5 out of 5 stars Same as LP-R400 but with SD/USB instead of CD recorder   October 10, 2008

This is the same unit as the Teac LP-R400 but instead or recording directly to CD it records to USB or SD card. I find this to be much more useful than recording to CD because now I can record for hours at the time and bring it with me to the Gym or listen at work. It can record to MP3 at 96, 128 or 160 Bits but not to WMA as stated above. No big loss as I do not like WMA format but Amazon should correct their description of this unit. The sound is better than I had expected and perhaps the best sounding unit in this category. Recording is very easy but automatic tract split does not work all that well so you are better off doing it yourself manually. Overall a very nice product.

4 out of 5 stars TEAC LP-U200   December 26, 2008

I received the TEAC LP-U200 a couple of weeks ago. I like the product overall, but trying to create a file for each song on the record is a little tedious. I tried setting the machine to the MANUAL mode in order to press the TRACK INCREMENT after each song so that it would create a separate file for each song as specified by the instructions. After the first song played and was recorded on a flash drive, I pushed the TRACK INCREMENT button and I noticed that the digital counter display indicated that the recording had stopped. The display continued to show the same digital count and the next record started before the counter changed to indicate 0.00 and then it would start counting again, but you would miss the next couple of notes at the beginning of the next song. To correct this problem, after the first song ends, you press the TRACK INCREMENT button and hit the RECORD button, then lift the needle from the record and wait until the digital counter displays 0.00, then lower the needle to the record and press the RECORD button immediately. You must do this after each song is played in order to separate them. The only other way to record an old album, if you don't want to create a file for each song is to play the record and press RECORD. If you want to record a CD with different songs from different albums, then you must record each song as a different file - of course the file name would be the name of the song. Everything else worked as stated, but I haven't yet tried recording cassette tapes.
